Eligibility Criteria (As of 1 April 2026)

Educational Qualifications

  • General Cadre: Bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) OR a Master's degree in any field with minimum 55% marks across all semesters.
  • DEPR Cadre: Master's Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Integrated Economics, or specialized Master's in Finance with at least 55% marks.
  • DSIM Cadre: Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Econometrics with at least 55% marks in aggregate.

Age Limit & Attempts Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 30 Years (Candidates must be born between 02 April 1996 and 01 April 2005).
  • Relaxations: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 extra years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, and PwBD candidates get 10 years upper age relaxation. For Ph.D. holders, the maximum age limit goes up to 34 years.
  • Number of Attempts: General and EWS candidates can attempt the Phase-I preliminary exam a maximum of 6 times. There is no such attempt restriction for SC, ST, OBC, or PwBD categories.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The recruitment process involves a strict three-stage elimination pattern designed to filter the top minds:

  1. Phase-I Online Preliminary Exam: Objective-type test. For the General cadre, it consists of 200 marks testing General Awareness, Reasoning, Quant Aptitude, and English in a 120-minute slot.
  2. Phase-II Online Main Exam: Mix of objective and descriptive typing sections. It contains three papers covering Economic & Social Issues (ESI), English descriptive writing skills, and Finance & Management (FM).
  3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted aspirants face the final board interview panel. Final rank listing is decided on Phase-II plus Interview scores combined.
